This morning, I landed back in the UK after three weeks in Poland. It was my first trip to the country, and I had a wonderful time and many great experiences, some of which I will detail further in this article.
Most of my little excursions I made an effort to write other posts about or put on Twitter, but Sunday and Monday, my last two full days in Warszawa, were largely spent making efforts to wrap up the football-related activities we hadn’t yet properly done.
On Sunday afternoon, after a delicious fish lunch and watching Cracovia vs Warta Poznań on Canal+, my girlfriend and I went on a tour of Stadion Narodowy. I’d had the benefit of driving past it every day I was in the capital, as she lives close by.
On the day we visited, Ed Sheeran had been playing the stadium the days prior, so there was the clean-up operation of that taking place, not that it mattered. It is an exceptionally impressive venue, and one I hope I will be able to attend to watch the national team in due course.

Following this, we took a trip to Łazienkowska and Legia’s stadium and shop, to pick up a few souvenirs. On the way, we saw this nice mural celebrating Legia’s last Ekstraklasa title.

There were, of course, some things that due to time we weren’t able to fit in on this trip. Going to watch a game, which we came close to a few times but couldn’t quite line up correctly, or visiting Płock, for example. Despite this, it was a beautiful trip with fantastically hospitable people, who seemed to be offering me cake everywhere I went.
I hope to return soon, perhaps to watch the World Cup warm-up game against Chile in November, but this again depends on other circumstances. If not then, then next year at some point.
